Adjustable Beds
As the name implies, adjustable beds are those beds which can be adjusted
as per your requirement. Today, the most common places where you will find
adjustable beds are hospitals and nursing homes. The reclining capacity of
this bed to an angle of 30-45 degrees (or more) actually takes off the load
from the spine and thereby provides total relaxation for the whole body. Side-by-side
with the medical facilities, the adjustable beds have made great inroads into
the normal homes as well.
There are many reasons why one should sleep on adjustable beds. Some of
these are briefly described below:
1. A reclining position is excellent when the person suffers from acute
reflux; it helps with the remedy because while the adjustable beds elevate
him/her, it is difficult for the acid from the stomach to climb all way
back into the esophagus.
2. Similarly, a moderate elevation of the lower limbs would prevent
the edema of the feet, a characteristic problem specially found in women
during pregnancy, besides other instances.
3. You will find it extremely comfortable to sleep in a slightly reclining
position when, for example you have lung inflammation; in such conditions
when you lie down your body is wracked by a troubling cough.
4. It is simply great to be able to adjust your bed to your mood – say
an angle to watch TV, another angle to read that best-seller; yet another
for that breakfast in bed and so on.
5. Lastly, you will find these adjustable beds extremely convenient for
other purposes such as massage, relaxation, meditation, and so on.
These beds are sometimes adjusted manually; however, the models available
today are mostly run on electric motors controlled by wireless remote which
makes it very easy to control and fix the bed to the exact size you want.
The mattresses for these beds are not the ordinary bed mattresses that
we find in stores, but are specially built for use on adjustable beds.
