Toddler BedsThe little helpless newborn you brought home from the hospital has grown tremendously over the past months. As he grows more independent each day, his needs change. Now that he’s walking, talking, and playing on his own, it’s time to consider moving him out of the crib. The step from an infant crib to an adult sized bed is probably a little more than he can handle at this point, but there’s a happy medium for you to consider. Toddler beds are the perfect size for younger children, giving them the grown up feeling of being out of the crib, while keeping them safer than being in a regular sized bed. Toddler beds are much safer for small children than a standard twin bed. Generally, toddler beds only sit a foot or so off the ground, so adjusting to sleep outside the safety rails of a crib is a less traumatic experience. Some toddler beds come with side rails to help with this transition; others are so low to the ground it doesn’t matter. If you feel that your child would benefit from rails, but the model you select is not equipped with them, they can be purchased separately and easily installed. Safety is always the number one concern when selecting any bed for your child, no mater what age. Toddler beds use the same size mattresses and bedding as a crib would. If you were to decide to purchase a model that does not come with its own mattress, you could recycle the mattress from the crib the child just moved out of. This also is a useful feature when it comes to keeping the same theme for the child’s room. No need to hunt for new sheets to match the décor of your child’s room, you can keep on using the sheets from the crib set you already own. This makes a toddler bed a great value, stretching the use of crib mattresses and bedding beyond the child’s standard year or two in the crib. Toddler beds can be matched with the child’s room’s current theme or purchased to incorporate a character or interest into the décor of the room. There are plain beds that can be used to match what is already in place, which is a great option if you chose a nursery theme that could go beyond infancy. Beyond that, theme and character beds are always popular and fun for toddlers. What child wouldn’t like sleeping in a car, castle, train, or with their favorite television character. Just about any popular character or theme can be found in a bed and if not, you can have a bed custom made. The style options are endless when choosing beds for your toddler. Toddler beds are a wonderful option to help your child in the transition from infancy. Finding a great bed for your child’s room is simple and practical. Just take a look at the options available that match your child’s interests and have fun! Watching your toddler grow up can be a bittersweet experience, however, seeing your child enjoy the extra independence will surely put a smile on your face.
