King Comforter Set

If you own a king size bed, you obviously use king size bedding. If you are looking to revamp your bedroom, a fully coordinated bedding ensemble may be just what you need. Purchasing a king comforter set rather than individual stock items is often more economical and are definitely a quick way to achieve a well-dressed bed. Following is all you could want to know before deciding on a comforter set.

A complete full, queen, or king comforter set will come with a flat sheet, fitted sheet, two pillow cases, two pillow shams, a comforter and a matching or coordinating bed skirt. However, a partial set will come with less. Often times in a partial set, a full and queen are interchangeable while a king comforter set is unique to its size. In a partial set, you will most likely receive only the comforter and matching shams. While not a complete set, if you already own several sheet sets, you might only need the comforter and shams. However, make sure you know what is included in the set to help you determine if it’s a good deal.

In addition to the contents of your new full, queen, or king comforter set, you need to identify the thread count. Thread count refers to the number of threads, vertically and horizontally, in one square inch of fabric. As a rule of thumb, a higher thread count indicates a better quality material. Sheets should be no less than 200, but 300 or higher will indicate superior quality and durability. Remember that though you don’t wash your comforter weekly, most people do wash their sheets at very regular intervals.

Besides thread count, take note of the type of fabric used in the set. Are they pure cotton, cotton blends or polyester? Maybe you’re looking at a down comforter set. Choose a fabric that is both comfortable to you and that also washes well. Remember that down comforters will require duvet covers, which are an additional expense.

Since a quality king comforter set can cost as much as a couple hundred dollars, it’s important to choose a design and color scheme you are willing to live with a few years. Perhaps you are doing a complete room makeover, which actually lessens the restrictions you might have on color and design, or maybe you are working with an existing element but wish to achieve a new look. If you must work with your current carpet, it’s a good idea to choose a set that compliments the color and texture of your carpet. Paint and window treatments are much easier and cheaper to replace.

If you are currently undergoing a complete room re-do, you can decide which colors and designs you want with essentially no limits but personal taste. If you are inclined to gravitate towards bright colors, look for designs that have subtle applications of your favorite colors. You can then play off of those colors by applying them to other elements of the room.

With careful attention to what you already have in place and taking note of the product you are about to buy, you can invest in a full, queen, or king comforter set that will in fact, comfort you for years to come.
