Loft Beds

College dorm rooms can be a lot smaller than your college student is used to.  This can lead to a lot of difficulty finding extra space to work.  Many colleges do not provide beds, so students must bring their own furnishings.  Loft beds make a great addition to any room, since they provide two functions in one. A loft bed is a lot like a bunk bed in the sense that it has a mattress and sleeping quarters higher up.  The difference between loft beds and bunks beds is that loft beds have only one mattress, so they are made for one person.  The top of the loft bed is the sleeping quarters, and underneath is a space for a desk.  Most loft beds come with the desk built into the bed.  This makes study time easy, since there is room for your student to store things and study, and then they can easily crawl up the ladder on the side right into bed.

Loft beds come in a variety of colors, sizes, and materials.  The most common materials are metal and wood.  Almost all loft beds must be assembled when you buy them, making them really easy to transport.  Once you arrive to the dorm room, you can simply put the bed together there wherever you want it.  Overall, loft beds are fairly inexpensive and typically range from about $400 to $600, although some can go as high as $2,000.  The more expensive loft beds usually have a built in chest of drawers included as well as a desk.  Not all loft beds are made just for desks to be placed underneath.  Some are simply made so that the bed is higher, and there is more room to store things underneath or place a futon or other items.  This makes dorm living much easier since the students gets two spaces out of one.
