Queen BedIf you are in the market for a queen bed, you will probably come across terms that you are not familiar with. Here is a list of some of the terms you may hear when you are shopping for a queen bed – or any bed for that matter. Coil type: You should know that coils are made out of steel. The heavier the steel, the more supportive or firm the mattress will be. Coil count: This term refers to the number of coils that are inside your mattress. The more coils that are in the mattress, the firmer the queen mattress will be for you when you sleep. The softest, or less firm bed will have a coil count starting at 300. The firmest beds will have a coil count of 700. Many people opt for a number somewhere in the middle, such as 400-500. It should be noted that a bed that is overly soft may feel good at first, but it may not give you the support you need. A bed that is too soft may result in you feeling achy or stiff the next day. Upholstery: This term refers to the fabric and layers of foam that will be between you and the queen bed mattress coils. People who want to feel like they are sleeping on a plush bed will generally lean towards purchasing a queen bed that has a pillow top. People who do not like a plush bed will lean towards a queen bed mattress that has less upholstery material in it. Edge materials: This term refers to the type of materials that are used on the edge of a bed. People should feel supported, even if they are sleeping on the edge of their mattress. A good mattress will give an individual full support, right up to the mattress edge.
