Trundle BedsThe definition for trundle beds says that it is a pair of beds which are built in such a way that one fits into the other, as a giant drawer. These beds are normally used as emergency time beds when one has guests that need to be accommodated. Usually, in trundle beds one of the beds is slightly lower since it fits underneath the main bed. However, some modern trundle beds are made with a push-up system whereby the second bed can raise to the same level as the first one. The trundle beds seems to originate from Old England in early 18th Century, when the aristocracy slept in four poster beds and the servants slept on the smaller beds which fit under the main bed. This was then called as ‘truckle bed Today the trundle beds are mostly used as a space saving furniture. It makes a great contraption for the children’s room and even your guest bedroom. Since the second bed can be made ready at a moment’s notice, and stowed away as fast, it is excellent for guests. At the same time, in case you really do not need the trundle beds, you could remove the mattress and use the drawer as a storing unit. A word of warning here – when the trundle beds are fitted with mattress one should be extra careful to get the right size. If it is too thin, it might become uncomfortable, and if it is too high it might not go under the big bed anymore. Hence, it is very important that the matters of the trundle beds be the exact size they are needed. Also, if you keep the bed in the children’s room, ensure that there is nothing that the children can use to endanger themselves. Pay particular attention at the possibility that children could lock each other under the bed.
