An air mattress is something that many people buy to use for guests to sleep on when they come into town to visit.  The air mattress is simply a mattress that is filled with air to create a comfortable sleeping experience.  The mattress can be inflated using an air pump, and many air mattresses come with their very own pump when you buy them. 

Most air pumps are electric, so the mattress will inflate within a matter of minutes, providing a very comfortable resting spot for those who need it.  They’re especially useful for people who may not normally have an extra bed or bedroom, but want to be able to provide lodging to friends and family when they come to visit.  The air mattress is usually made of a tough rubber to help prevent it from tearing or getting holes and deflating.  In the event that it does get a hole, they can usually be patched up fairly easily.

Perhaps the best thing about owning an air mattress is its portability and ability to go from a full sized sleeping mattress to a small easily stored package in no time.

This makes the air mattress easy to store and easy to put away when not in use.  It also makes it very useful for other things like camping trips or other out of town excursions where an extra bed will be needed.  Some air mattresses are even “auto inflatable,” meaning when you unfold it and push a small button, it inflates automatically by itself, saving time and energy.  No matter what kind of air mattress you choose, it makes a wonderful extra to have in your home, car, or closet in the event that another bed is needed.  Generally they are very comfortable to sleep on as well.
