Mattresses QueenMost co-sleepers agree that they need a mattress that is larger than a full-sized. Though a standard queen mattress is approximately 6 inches wider than a double, 6 inches can make all the difference in the world. But why stop at queen when you can go for the granddaddy of all mattresses – the king. Choosing between mattresses – queen or king – is a matter of budget, personal preference, and room size. In terms of cost, there is generally a bigger leap in price between mattress queen and king than full and queen. However, if you are not restricted by this factor, then it doesn’t matter. A queen size mattress offers ample room for two people and usually finding bedding for mattresses queen sized is easier. Most stores stock a greater variety of full and queen sized bedding than any other. That’s not to say you can’t find a good selection of king sized bedding, but you may have to special order to get what you want. Some people actually have a personal preference in their sleeping arrangements and not everyone wants as much space as possible. Mattresses queen and king sized are the best fit for couples, but many people sleep better with small amounts of human contact and feel a king sized bed is too spacious. Still, others prefer to have as much room as possible between them and their bedmate when they sleep. In this case, you can’t get more space than a king sized bed. Perhaps you do have a preference of mattresses, but your room will not accommodate what you want. Be sure you exhaust all possibilities before you resign yourself to a mattress size you won’t be happy with. If you can fit a mattress full sized in your space, you can definitely fit mattresses queen sized. King sized may be another story all together. Examine the current furniture arrangement in your space and determine if you can remove or rearrange your furniture to allow room for the bed you want. If you can purchase different furniture that is space saving, it might be worth the investment to get the bed you want. If you still aren’t sure which of the mattresses, queen or king sized, is right for you, try out several of both at the nearest showroom. It could be that you just never realized how much room a queen sized offers or that you had no idea how big a king sized really was. Also keep in mind that in a showroom, a bed looks considerably smaller in the vast space of the store than it actually is. Once you get it home, it will take on its true form in size and shape when it becomes relevant to your space at home. Take your time and purchase what you can afford and what you can accommodate, but also what will make you and your bedmate the most comfortable each night.
